Natasha K. De Armas is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the emotional landscapes of memory, longing, and displacement. Drawing from her childhood experiences with fabric by her grandmother’s side in Venezuela and her journey as an immigrant, she layers textiles into collaged wall pieces and soft sculptures. Using intuitive stitching methods, she binds together abstract forms and figures, externalizing the complex feelings of loss, nostalgia, and absence shared by many migrants. Her sensorial, tactile works invite viewers to touch, reflect, and empathize, offering a perspective on the in-betweenness of migration. Recent explorations incorporate objects from her Venezuelan heritage, deepening the narrative of belonging and identity.
Natasha was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. She moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She’s an educator, artist and maker who received her Masters in Art Education from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where she also earned her Masters in Fine Arts in Art Practice.
Natasha enjoys her time drawing, printmaking, exploring textile arts, and has a deep love for café con leche.
